How to Distinguish Between Vascular Stents and Thrombectomy Stents?

Vascular stents vs. thrombectomy stents  How to distinguish them?

1. The blood vessel in which the vascular stent is placed does not necessarily have a thrombus

The most common one is the cardiac stent, so let's take it as an example. When the stenosis of the heart blood vessels exceeds 80%, angina pectoris will occur repeatedly. For unstable plaques, because of angina pectoris, myocardial ischemia attacks may also cause plaques. Rupture, thrombosis, myocardial infarction, so, at this time, stents are needed to control angina attacks.

This kind of stenosis requires a vascular stent, but there is no thrombus, so naturally there is no need to suction the thrombus.

2. Vascular stent placement and stent thrombus removal are two techniques

The purpose of stent placement is to hold the narrowed blood vessel up by inflation pressure. The stent to remove the thrombus is to release the stent after passing through the thrombus, and wait for a period of time to allow the thrombus to fully contact the stent, and then pull the thrombus back into the catheter to be excreted from the body.

3. Even after stent thrombectomy, vascular stent may still be used

Even after all the thrombus is removed, the plaque stenosis still exists.

A thrombus is a blood clot that forms after a plaque ruptures, that is, a blood clot that forms when the lining of a blood vessel bleeds. But the plaque will always be in the blood vessel, even if there is no thrombus, this fixed stenosis still exists. If there is no stent, then the blood flow will be slow, not only angina pectoris, slow blood flow in the plaque, but also may lead to thrombosis.

Therefore, for some blood vessels after thrombus removal, vascular stents may be needed to support the stenosis, so that the official cavity can return to normal, control angina pectoris, and to a certain extent, it is beneficial to prevent myocardial infarction. The specific device to use also needs to be based on the doctor's control of the condition.
